Certified Hernia Centres

The members’ general meeting of the German Hernia Society passed a motion on 11 June 2010 to set up a section "Certification of Hernia Centres". This section will be directed by Prof. Bittner from Stuttgart and is to formulate the criteria for a certified hernia centre. Once the criteria have been defined, certification of hernia centres will be introduced. Participation in the Herniamed Quality Assurance Study/Registry is an absolute prerequisite for certification of a hospital as a hernia centre.
